Here are some résumé writing tips to help get you started to improve your résumé and your chances of getting an interview.
  1. Do a spell-check.
  2. Make sure you use proper tenses in your phrases and sentences.
  3. Highlights your responsibilities and achievements by painting a clear picture.
  4. Try to begin your phrases or sentences with a power verb.
  5. Avoid using abbreviations as your resume may be read by a Human Resources Manager who may not know the industry terminology.
  6. Try to use actual numbers and examples, wherever possible to demonstrate you’re a past success. However, don’t go into too many details as you can elaborate on in your interview.
  7. Use bullet points so your reader can scan your work history.
  8. Use Arial or Helvetica style font to make it scanner friendly. Don’t use too many graphics and italics.
  9. If you feel incompetent, try to find a talented friend to help you edit your résumé.
  10. Remember to be honest. Although you may be tempted to add some extra things to spice up your resume, it is better not to do it as it may be back to haunt you later.
